8 weeks part-time programme helping early-stage research teams to make the first steps into market discovery. Teams will receive support via 4 days on-line learning spread over 8 weeks (3 hours each week) for early stage market engagement and discovery. Teams will learn about their potential market and gain deeper understanding of potential technology application.

At SETsquared, we’ve got almost ten years’ experience of helping academic teams to find real-world markets and investors for their innovations. Through the ICURe Programme, we’ve supported UK universities to help more than 250 spin outs and over 200 collaborative licences to get off the ground. Up until now, we have mostly been supporting traditional research intensive institutions to bring their engineering and health science to market, but we are eager to work with a broader group of institutions and a broader type of research.

This programme helps researchers validate the market for their research and could lead to substantial commercial licensing opportunities or to the creation of an investable spin out.  This October, the SETsquared Partnership will be running an ICURe DISCOVER programme, an 8 week programme to test the market opportunities for research.  This programme is free to take part in, and comes with a stipend of £2500 per entrepreneurial team, to support that market exploration.  This pilot programme is sector specific to investable Arts, Design, Broadcast media, Digital media, Arts & Design based AI :  generally any research that could create a sustainable investment ready business.

We will have industry specialists and industry investment experts alongside our experienced business mentors and trainers to deliver the programme and mentor any researcher that attends.  The programme is open to all UK HEIs, of any size, and to researchers at any stage of their career (although PhD students should be close to or have submitted their thesis to best benefit from the programme).
